Championing Wellness: MDX Hawai‘i Creates Successful Initiatives to Drive Annual Wellness Visits

MDX Hawai‘i knows that annual wellness visits (AWVs) are the heart and soul of preventive medicine. Thus, in partnership with agilon health, the physician network has launched a series of programs to ensure that their members are taking advantage of their yearly Medicare benefits they are entitled.

Through the Wellness Champions initiative, MDX is honoring Medicare brokers who help keep their clients healthy by promoting the benefits of preventive care and AWV. Brokers who assist their clients in scheduling wellness visit appointments with their primary care physicians are rewarded for every AWV appointment booked. And once a client completes a wellness visit, the broker gets rewarded again.

“I am used to working with my clients and prospects to find a Medicare plan that best suits their needs.” says Leeah Tano, a licensed agent with Financial Benefits Insurance. “By encouraging my clients to get their annual wellness visits, I feel like I am contributing to their overall health and well-being.”

The Wellness Champion program was conceived by Adrienne Yi, Senior Director of Marketing Strategies. She credits MDX Hawai‘i team members, for operationalizing the program in the backend. During the first two months of 2020, over 200 AWV appointments were made as a result of the program.

Additionally, under the direction of Adrienne Yi, the MDX Hawai‘i BOI team conducted a series of member health fairs as member retention and engagement strategy during OEP, which runs from January 1 to March 31. Working with Humana and UnitedHealthcare, the team completed nearly 170 AWVs, among 300 attendees, an increase of 50% from the year before.
