Hawaii Drive-In Events Help Technologically Challenged Seniors with Medicare Options

Only one in four seniors in Hawaii have access to smartphones or computers. Advocate Health Advisors, a Medicare insurance brokerage in Hawaii, faced a challenge: reaching out to those Medicare beneficiaries who did not have access to technology during the Medicare Annual Election Period.

The idea of drive-in enrollment meetings was conceived.  Those who do not have access to technology or prefer to talk to an agent “in-person” can come to the drive-in enrollment events. Masked seniors stay in the safety of their cars. While adhering to safety protocols, licensed agents stand beside the client’s car and walk the senior through their Medicare coverage options. “The response to the drive-in events has been remarkable,” says Greg Yamane, Sales Director for Advocate Health Advisors Hawaii. “We are pleased that we are able to help our kupuna in making the right choice for their 2021 Medicare coverage while keeping them safe.”
